Micah Friedlander

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)

Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC)

Micah is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor working toward dual licensure. As a psychotherapist, Micah has experience working with individuals facing anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and substance use issues. Micah uses a person-centered collaborative approach and is informed by modalities such as Attachment Theory, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. He is supervised by Linda Farhat, LMFT.

Micah believes a safe and affirming therapeutic environment leads to growth and empowerment outside of the therapy room. Our subjective experience does not happen in a vacuum. We all influence and are influenced by myriad factors including our relationships, society, and the ways in which we cope. This systemic viewpoint is reflected in Micah’s educational background and how he conceptualizes therapeutic work. Micah holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. Before joining PathPoint, he worked in residential programs supporting individuals diagnosed with moderate to severe mental illness and individuals who were formally unhoused.

PathPoint

PathPoint’s Counseling Center is part of the organization’s Behavioral Health Services and offers outpatient care for members of the community seeking professional support with their mental health. Founded in 2015, the Counseling Center serves clients with a wide range of backgrounds, diagnoses, demographics, and lived experiences. Clients have the option of visiting our physical office space in downtown Santa Barbara for in-person sessions or connecting via our secure telehealth platform for virtual sessions.

Most of the individuals Micah has worked with come from underserved or marginalized communities. He is deeply aligned with the mission of Arielle’s Light and believes that removing financial barriers to care is essential. Micah advocates for accessible, affordable, and competent mental health support, emphasizing that everyone deserves the ability to make informed choices about their care. He believes that when therapy becomes more accessible and normalized, seeking support will carry less stigma and be embraced as a natural part of overall well-being.
