Catherine Kogketsidou-Sousa
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
Catherine Kogketsidou-Sousa is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, holding both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in the field of education as well as a Master’s of Arts in Clinical Psychology. As a Psychotherapist and Lead Case Manager, Catherine has experience working with individuals facing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia, among others. Catherine has an eclectic approach and has experience using modalities such as Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Art Therapy, and Play Therapy. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and incorporates this modality into her work with clients who are overcoming trauma or PTSD. Being an immigrant herself and having worked extensively with different minority groups, she is aware of the impact culture and diversity of any form can have on a person’s life. She speaks fluent Greek. Catherine’s strong belief is that clients are experts of their own lives and therapy is a collaboration between the clinician and the client. She wants to see the world through her clients’ perspectives and help them find hope, strength, faith and meaning in their life.
Catherine joined PathPoint in 2016 with nearly a decade of experience working in education with children from preschoolers through adolescents. During her time working for CALM (Child Abuse Listening Mediation), she provided individual and group therapy to children and families who had experienced emotional, physical, or sexual trauma and helped them overcome their emotional challenges and find their strength. Additionally, she worked in group homes with adolescents who were in the foster care system, where she gained experience dealing with crisis situations and helping youth meet their goals and build a brighter future for themselves.

PathPoint
PathPoint’s Counseling Center is part of the organization’s Behavioral Health Services and offers outpatient care for members of the community seeking professional support with their mental health. Founded in 2015, the Counseling Center serves clients with a wide range of backgrounds, diagnoses, demographics, and lived experiences. Clients have the option of visiting our physical office space in downtown Santa Barbara for in-person sessions or connecting via our secure telehealth platform for virtual sessions.
Catherine’s collaboration with Arielle’s Light reflects her deep commitment to making therapy accessible for all. She believes that providing mental health support to adolescents and young adults is not only transformative for individuals but also vital for the well-being of our communities. Recognizing that many young people lack the financial means to seek care, Catherine is passionate about helping them access the support they need—reminding them that they are not alone and that healing is always possible.
